With a 600 year history as a golf course and home to the Royal & Ancient Golf Club, the 'Old Course' of St Andrews was the scene of Great Britain's farewell to Arnold Palmer.

In this scene Arnie, aged 65, plays his approach to the 16th green in a group with Ian Baker-Finch (Australia) and Peter Baker (Great Britain). Look closely at the detail (right) as the distant 'Road Hole' leads around the dog leg to the 18th or 'Tom Morris' hole, and the famous landmarks of the Old Course Hotel, the Swilcan Bridge, Old Tom's Shop and, on the left, the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse itself.

A signed Old Course Golf Print by Terry Harrison showing the Swilcan Bridge and the 18th Green at St Andrews. This wonderful golf print is unframed and measures approximately 9 inches by 18 inches and is new to our range.

The Swilcan Burn meanders across the first and 18th fairways, and provides the only water hazard on the Old Course before emptying into the North Sea. The little stone bridge, of Roman design, was not provided for the convenience of golfers, but was part of the usual route from town to the harbour area in the Eden estuary.

Golfers now cross the bridge on their final journey up the 18th fairway, and usually stop for a most memorable photograph there.
