Rory McIlroy US Open Congressional
McIlroy has battered possibly the toughest test in US Open golf. In two days McIlroy signed for a 66 and a 36 hole total of 131. This is the lowest in US Open Golf history and an amazing 11 under par.
“I have tried to change my demeanour. I needed to be more cocky, more arrogant on the course, to try to have an attitude.” McIlroy said. “When I get into these positions it is important that I don’t get ahead of myself and start to play defensively.”
All this seems to be working. His playing partner Phil Mickelson joked at the 15th, that only five players with 10 shots of McIlroy at the time, the 10 shot rule that determines the cut mark would not be invoked.
“To me it all felt so simple.” McIlroy said. “I just stuck to the game plan and made committed swings at the targets I chose. I don’t know what else to say. I have put myself into a great position, but perhaps, more than anyone, I know what can happen, so it’s important to stay focused and get this done.
There’s no doubt McIlroy is on fire and great for Northern Ireland with his golf gift. Could he become the equivalent to the great George Best.
